Privacy policy
Garza is a fitness tracker that keeps your data on your phone. This policy explains what the app uses, why, and the choices you have.
Garza is made by Hizli System. Questions about this policy go to hello@hizlisystem.com.
The short version
Garza has no account, no server, no ads and no analytics or tracking. Your workouts, routes, daily totals, goals and settings are stored in a database on your phone. We do not collect them, we never receive them, and we cannot see them.
What the app uses on your phone
Location
Garza uses your precise location only while you record a GPS workout, to measure distance and draw your route. A notification is shown the whole time. Recording continues with the screen off through that notification (an Android foreground service); Garza never asks for “Allow all the time” location access and does not use your location at any other time.
Physical activity sensors
While a workout is being recorded, Garza uses your phone's step sensor to count steps and, if your phone has one, its air-pressure sensor (barometer) to measure elevation. These readings are stored with the workout and deleted with it.
Health Connect
Connecting Health Connect is optional. If you connect it, Garza readsthe data types you allow — steps, distance, active calories burned, exercise sessions, heart rate, resting heart rate and sleep — to show your daily activity and workouts in the app. Garza never writes to or deletes anything in Health Connect. You choose each data type and can revoke access at any time in Health Connect's settings.
Data read from Health Connect stays on your phone. It is not sent to us or to anyone else, not used for advertising, and not sold. The use of information received from Health Connect adheres to the Health Connect Permissions policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Notifications
Used for the recording notification and, only if you turn it on, one daily reminder.
Maps
To draw maps, Garza downloads map images (tiles) from OpenFreeMap, a free public map service. As with visiting any website, OpenFreeMap receives your phone's IP address and which map area is being displayed. Garza does not send it your workouts, routes or any other data. Tiles you have viewed are stored on your phone so maps work offline.
When data leaves your phone
Only when you choose to export it — a workout as a GPX file, or all your data as JSON or CSV from Profile → Your data — and pick where to send it in Android's share sheet. Export files contain your locations and history, so share them only with people and apps you trust. Garza's data is excluded from Android cloud backup, so it is not copied to Google Drive.
The “Check this phone” report you can share with us for support contains only your phone model, Android and app versions and the check results — no locations, health data or identifiers.
Deleting your data
Because your data is only on your phone, you are in control of it. Profile → Delete all data permanently removes everything Garza has stored, and uninstalling Garza does the same. Data in Health Connect belongs to Health Connect and is not affected. We hold no copy, so there is nothing to request from us.
Not medical advice
Garza shows measurements and estimates for general fitness. It does not diagnose or treat any condition. Calories and some other values are estimates and are labelled as such in the app.
Children
Garza is not directed to children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
